Sunday Brew: M15 Generator Servant (Kevin’s Pick)

Introducing a new series to the channel, The Sunday Brew Session. In this series my magic friends and I will be holding Sunday Service at the shop and reverencing the magic Gods with new fresh brews. This week we will be brewing around  M15. For my brew card, I chose Generator Servant .

The obvious choices when brewing around this card is 5 drops that really really want haste. The candidates for being supercharged by our little elemental friend are Underworld Cerberus, Master of Cruelties and Kalonian Hydra. I included a bunch of the other fatties and mana dumps in the list as well. Keep in mind, this list is still in its infancy and has a lot of tuning:

Standard Jund Generator

Ramp:                                     . (20)
Generator Servant
Sylvan Caryatid
Satyr Hedonist
Zhur-Taa Druid
Burning-Tree Emissary

Ramp Exploits: (17)
Underworld Cerberus
Kalonian Hydra
Master of Cruelties
Soul of Innistrad
Soul of Shandalar
Scuttling Doom Engine
Garruk, Caller of Beasts
Xenagos, the Reveler
Rakdos’s Return
Xenagos, God of Revels
Lands: (23)
Stomping Grounds
Overgrown Tomb
Blood Crypt
Temple of Malice
Temple of Abandon
Temple of Malady
Forest
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
Mana Confluence

Sideboard:                . (15)
Abrupt Decay
Reclamation Sage
Scavenging Ooze
Golgari Charm
Dreadbore
Rakdos’s Return
Polukranos, World Eater
Shadowborn Demon

There are a ton of other cards that I flirted around with that definitely deserve a mention. Hoarding Dragon is really fun with Scuttling Doom Engine and Soul of New Phyrexia. The problem is Mr. Dragon’s precious artifact becomes permanently exiled if he leaves the battlefield without dying. In standard this is a very real scenario with Detention Sphere / Banishing Light or Cyclonic Rift.

Cards that love excess mana like Hydra Broodmaster , Stormbreath Dragon, Ember Swallower, Polis Crusher and all the other monster dudes definitely can find their way into the 75.

Speaking of Monsters, typical cards that benefit off of big fatties like Flesh / Blood or Ghor-Clan Rampager could be powerful additions. I especially like the interaction between Rampager and Soul of Innistrad and Underworld Cerberus.

Lastly, cards that benefit off creatures dying like Reaper of the Wilds or Life’s Legacy could give this more reach.

I hope you enjoyed this list and always feel free to add your suggestions!
