This new deck is based on one that was created by Felix Tse, who reached 2nd place with his version at a Mana Deprived tournament in Toronto, in July 2015. You can find the original deck list here. I made a couple of changes based on personal preference and the changed metagame, but the core remains the same.
While the original RUG/Temur Scapeshift deck is a control-combo deck, that tries to control the game while ramping to its win condition, this Red-Green version is a pure combo deck. The objective is to get to 7 lands and cast Scapeshift. You then bring a Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle and 6 Mountains into play, which deals 18 damage to your opponent (through Valakut triggers). Along with a bit of burn this is normally lethal, though if necessary you can deal more damage by going to 8-9 lands and then searching for 2 or more Valakuts.
If necessary you can also just bring Valakut in play and trigger it by playing mountains, without casting Scapeshift. Primeval Titan can help to speed this up, by bringing one or more Valakuts into play.
It is a fun and pro-active deck to play, and based on the 10-12 games I played it seems competitive, though possible a bit inconsistent. It is not a budget deck, but most of the cards in the deck are either staples, such as RTR shock lands and KTK fetch lands, or they are very cheap. The only cards you really need to invest in are Scapeshift and Primeval Titan.
I APOLOGIZE FOR THE POOR SOUND QUALITY DURING THE GAME PLAY VIDEOS; THE INSTALLATION OF WINDOWS 10 MESSED UP MY MICROPHONE SETTINGS.
